Published with both Spanish and English versions, these oral histories provide a window into the lifes of retirees who came north twenty-five years ago; of mothers and children who stayed in Mexico and finally made it over; of teenagers building a house for their family in Mexico; of children graduating from college, their feet planted in two worlds. New City Community Press has allowed Que' Pasa's newspaper, which covers the entire state, to run excerpts from the interviews featured in the book.

Espejos y Ventanas, es un libro hermosamente escrito. Y lo mejor de todo, es que sus autores no saben escribir, es decir, no saben cómo se escribe un libro. Muchos de ellos a duras penas saben leer.

Es decir, es un libro hecho con historias que han sido construidas segundo a segundo a lo largo de infinitas jornadas de dolor. Hispanos sometidos, en muchas ocasiones, a un sistema de explotación sin misericordia. Seres arrancados, por la fuerza de la necesidad, de su familia y de su patria y lanzados sin piedad a un mundo desconocido, hostil, ávido de su sudor, de su fuerza de trabajo dócil e inagotable.
